Rieko moved from Japan to New Zealand in 1999. She began an intimate relationship with paintbrush and canvas and is an accomplished full-time painter, with sold-out originals exhibitions, a full diary of private commissions and an extensive print collection (managed exclusively by Eyeball Kicks). With love, care and great respect, ngākau whakaute, Rieko's recent works include native birds of Aotearoa, adorned in traditional, native korowai (cloak) to honour the importance of these ancient and rare taonga (treasures). Rieko creates her paintings from a studio in Wellington.
