    1. (noun) South Island takahē, notornis, Porphyrio hochstetteri - rare, flightless endemic bird that looks like a large pūkeko with a greenish back. Lives in tussock grasslands of Fiordland.

This basket relates to knowledge acquired through careful observation of the environment.
